Past discoveries at the ancient spring site shed light on some fairly old, actually way old, remains of human activity in Florida. These remains have a date range that places them within Florida’s paleo-landscape of some 9 to 12,000 years ago . A savannah-like, arid climate where one might have to walk a good 75 miles west from our present shoreline to reach the Gulf. That’s because most of the earth’s water was still locked up in the last ice age. Most reseach shows that modern day coastlines emerged some 5 to 6,000 years ago. Check out: the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science - http://www.rsmas.miami.edu/  – researchers there continue to document the site and study its discovered and recovered remains of Florida’s past.
